"ADOPT A COP"
Many Luzerne County, PA police officers are in great need of a bullet proof vest. If you are from the Luzerne County area, this is no surprise to you.
Our County has laid off many, replaced MANY full-time officers with part-time officers, and starting salary for many is little over minimum wage...for such a dangerous job. Many of our police officers are going without because of the cost of the vest; they are trying to raise families, work second jobs, pay for uniforms, and medical. So, they are taking an even greater risk for us.
The Bulletproof Vest Program (which only covers up to 50%) is out there for officers needing a vest, however, in many cases, the other 50% is not available from their department funds; officers are going without or are wearing very outdated vests because on part-time salary and low pay, they cannot afford even 50% of the cost of a vest! Vests should be replaced approximately every 5 years - the protective fibers start breaking down. .
Don't turn your back on the very individuals who put their lives on the line every minute, every hour, every day so that we can be safe! You too, can help save a life...theirs!
THINK ABOUT THIS: IF AN OFFICER IS TRYING TO PROTECT US OR OUR LOVED ONES IN A SERIOUS SITUATION, BUT IS NOT PROTECTED BY A VEST, THEN HOW SAFE CAN WE OR OUR LOVED ONES BE?

I went to church, as if in a dream... Never a word, never a scream. Heaven was honoring someone new... I felt the sorrow, I touched the blue. My tears went dry, I sobbed all night... My brother was slain, in an unfair fight. The bag pipes played "Amazing Grace"... As I took one last look upon his face. I had to be strong; it's what he'd do...
