I recently read an article stating that prisons and jails in total, add more than 1,000 inmates "each week"!

THE KNOWLEDGE OF WISDOM

by Irving D.  Larson

"So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul:  when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward."     Proverbs 24:14

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.    Proverbs 9:10 (NIV)

Most of our State Penitentiaries have hundreds of college graduates within their walls.  They are serving time for just about every type of crime that there is.  Once of the officials at San Quentin, some time ago, made the following statement,  "The intellectual achievements of the prisoners here is very high.  We have men here who are capable of holding any position in the world; there is no task nor project which they could not carry through to success."  What then is the problem?  It is simply that they have knowledge but not wisdom.  They have spent much time gaining a grasp of certain facts, but they have never learned how to use the knowledge thus gained to develop a happy, successful life.

Knowledge may make a man successful, but only wisdom can make that life sweet.  The writer of these Proverbs is saying that wisdom is like the sweetness of honey, and like the honeycomb.  But, you say, how can we gain wisdom?  How can we be wise?  The Bible has the answer, and it rests in our knowledge of God, for we read, "The fear of the LORD is  the beginning of wisdom."  As you are enabled to get knowledge, be sure that you get wisdom as well.

Our children are empty.  All they know is TV, gameboys, playstations, etc....

What has happened our world?  Moral values are no longer being taught.  When I was a child, I was taught the ten commandments and that God knew about everything you did and said and that there was consequences for doing bad things....this, in addition to a strict mom, kept me on the right path.  Today's children don't even know about God....they are not even given the choice....our churches are so empty.    I notice  a huge difference in the behavior of my children compared to those who do not attend church or are not taught right from wrong.  My children often sound like little tattletales when they come home from school or someone's house (they kicked me, they hit me, they called me !@##$#$#, they talk back to their mom, etc...) simply because they have been taught respect, discipline, and right and wrong.

In today's world, we have children having children (no moral values) and these children are trying to raise children...an almost impossible, difficult job.  I believe that is why so many children are not disciplined properly.....take the Nanny shows for example.  The parents are clueless because there is no one way to discipline, and they just give up because it takes hard work and commitment!   Parents are far to lenient with their children and should take the time to be aware of their childs' every move and even check up on them.  There are far too many young kids roaming with others or by themselves and not being watched after.

Many of our laws are more in favor of criminals rights than victims and for a very severe crime, a mere slap on the hand is all that is given...sometimes because they feel sorry for the criminal because of their tough life.  My life wasn't the easiest, but I chose the right path.  Can't our lawmakers see that usually history repeats itself and once an offender, more often than not, a repeat offender.

We, here in the U.S., just so freely give up a free education...an opportunity that children from poor, uneducated countries would give their arm or leg for.  Why?  because lack of education leads to poverty, which leads to destructive decisions like stealing, etc...  They are actually smarter than we are because they see at an early age that education is the key to getting out of poverty.  The United States is no longer ranker #1 in educated children!

Our children turn to drugs and alcohol...they don't realize that these substances affect their brain by telling the brain that they need more and more and more and it is uncontrollable.  The dependency on these substances also leads to destructive decisions.

Parents, please take a considerable interest in your children; their future and security is greatly at stake.  Do what is best and only best for them....show them that you love them by being a caring parent.  Also, don't risk your eternity and theirs....look for a church until you find the right one...it will make a huge difference in the outcome of your quality of life!

ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE “HUMAN”

Well, it been more than 4 years since the death (murder) of my brother (EOW 6/23/03), and at times it seems just like yesterday……the grief and suffering….but I have learned something very important that I’d like to pass on. There is a major difference between being strong and being human and we can be both. Yes, our fallen loved one would want us to be strong: continue with our everyday, don’t stop living a normal life, find a reason and purpose to live and carry on. And being strong does not mean holding in our grief emotions. We can be strong and still cry and grieve. We need to allow ourselves that because that is a major part of being human and if we don’t allow ourselves to grieve, it can be detrimental to our health. Please don’t confuse being strong and being human; our loved ones would want us to be human.

I’ve already exceeded a million tears, I’m sure. I’ve cried in work, in church, at home, at parties, etc…..even now as it has almost been over 4 years.
